Lonely Shades explores the paradox of modern technology—a world designed to connect us, yet often leaving us in isolation. This exhibition highlights the deep loneliness brought on by the constant use of phones, social media, and video games, and the despair that many experience in the digital age.
In response to this theme, Iris created two hand-painted canvases as a true expression of authenticity. Painted in a state of deep connection and trance, these works reflect her belief that the key to overcoming loneliness lies within. By truly knowing ourselves, she suggests, we can better navigate the emotional landscapes shaped by technology and rediscover connection in a world that often feels fragmented.
She believes that if each of us took the time to understand who we are at our core, fear and isolation would lose their grip. Human beings are not meant to be alone — disconnection is a risk to our emotional and collective well-being. Through these pieces, she invites viewers to reconnect with the world around them: with nature, with one another, with emotion, beauty, and play — and to embrace the fullness of life beyond the digital screen.
